About HouseDirt

Who runs it

HouseDirt is a free public-service tool for homebuyers in Texas, Florida and North Carolina. There are no ads, no accounts and nothing to buy. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency.

Where the facts come from

A report is built from public records: FEMA flood maps, appraisal district, property appraiser and tax office records, state agencies, cities, schools and others. Each section of a report links to where its data came from, and each guide lists its sources at the end. The coverage page shows what is automated in each county and what a report can only point you to.

How current it is

Some sources are read when you ask for a report. Others come from copies of the official data that are refreshed on a schedule. Each county guide and explainer shows the date its content last changed. Public records can themselves be incomplete, out of date or wrong, so check anything you rely on with the official source.

Report a correction

If something looks wrong, email support@housedirt.com with the page or the county and what looks wrong. Please don't send your own address unless it's needed to explain the mistake. For anything else: hello@housedirt.com.

What it isn't
